We’re not a perfect group of people. We’re a real community learning, growing, and showing up for each other.

Meet Our Pastor:
Pastor Lance Gackowski
Lance Gackowski has been a resident of DeKalb since 1979 and began attending Trinity Lutheran Church in 1999. When he retired from teaching science at DeKalb high School in 2016, he was able to devote more time to filling in as a guest pastor at Trinity, eventually becoming the full-time pastor in 2020.
Lance loves loves every aspect of working with the folks at Trinity, from pastoral visits to those in the hospital and nursing homes to working with children at kids club on Wednesday nights. His sermons feel a lot like his classroom did, with Lance working to connect the gospel to the lived experiences of those he hopes to reach. While he is not as technologically savvy as would like to be, he's very glad that the Trinity services are broadcast on Facebook weekly so that members of the church who are traveling can still engage in fellowship.
Outside of serving the church community, Lance enjoys spending time with his grandchildren at his home in DeKalb. He follows Chicago sports teams and roots heartily against the Packers. Lance would love to meet you at the church any Sunday you can make it - service is at 9:30 a.m.

What started as a small group of families has grown into a vibrant, multi-generational church rooted in faith and built on God’s grace. While much has changed over the years, our heart has stayed the same, to serve our community, grow in faith, and walk together in Christ.
